Andrew Block, MD

Dr. Block has been practicing Obstetrics and Gynecology for over 25 years in Laurel, Rockville and Silver Spring, Maryland. In 1987 he received his medical degree from Temple University and in 1991 he completed his OB/GYN residency at the University of Maryland. Dr. Block attended the University of Pennsylvania and completed his undergraduate degree in 1980. He is board-certified and a fellow in the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is past chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Holy Cross Hospital. Dr. Block enjoys teaching residents and is an Associate Clinical Professor at George Washington University. His interests include Normal and High-Risk Pregnancy, Contraceptive Management, Infertility, and Menopausal issues. He has developed expertise in minimally invasive surgery including Operative Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy. He has been recognized in Washingtonian Magazine Top Doctors for many years. Asha Barrett, M.D.

Dr. Barrett joined Capital Women's Care in 2021. She graduated with high honors from the University of Texas at Austin in 2012, and received her Medical Degree from Texas A&M University in 2017 where she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Dr. Barrett completed her residency at the University of Texas at Houston in 2021 where she gained experience with high risk obstetrics, and both laparoscopic and robotic minimally invasive gynecology surgery.
A native Texan, she recently relocated to the DMV area with her husband. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, cooking, and lounging with her two cats.

Roy M. Brooks, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.

Dr. Brooks started practicing in the DC metro area in 1989 with Contemporary OBGYN, Associates, LLC., and most recently with Capital Women’s Care. He attended Tulane University School of Medicine, and just recently returned from New Orleans where he celebrated his 40th medical school reunion.
He completed residency training at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. After residency, Dr. Brooks served two years in Montgomery, Alabama where he proudly served his country in the National Health Service Corps.

Julie G. Glass, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.

Dr. Glass joined Contemporary OB/GYN Associates in 1989. She graduated in 1980 from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts with her Bachelor of Science in Biology, majoring in Biological Basis of Behavior. She received her Doctorate of Medicine in 1985 from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Glass completed her internship and residency at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore in Baltimore, Maryland in 1989.
Dr. Glass serves on the Credentials Committee at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland.
She received her Board Certification from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1991. Dr. Glass is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a member of the Montgomery County Medical Society as well as a member of the Medical Chirurgical Society of Maryland.

Anne Seifert grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and got her Bachelor of Science in Plant Biology from the University of California, Davis where she discovered the field of midwifery. She moved to Maryland where she went to the University of Maryland for her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing, and finally obtained her Master’s of Science in Midwifery from Georgetown University in Washington, DC in 2004. She has practiced in many clinical settings from public health departments, to private offices, hospital labor rooms, operating rooms, and birthing centers. She is dedicated to empowering women to be active participants in their care, whether that’s in finding the right family planning methods for them or partnering to take good care of their bodies. She lives in Laurel with her husband, two children, and two cats. She enjoys running, camping, and cooking.

Gayle Friedman, M.D.

Gayle Friedman, M.D. is a Board Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist who has practiced medicine in Rockville, Maryland for over 25 years.

Dr. Friedman graduated from the University of Virginia with her undergraduate degree in electrical engineering and premed in 1987, and she graduated from the Medical College of Virginia with her medical degree in 1991.
She completed an internship in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1992 and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1995.
She finished her training in New York at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She then returned to the D.C. area, where she has been in private practice ever since. Dr. Friedman has over 25 years of experience in practicing medicine and hormone replacement therapy. Dr. Friedman specializes in obstetrics and gynecology, and she is affiliated with Shady Grove Adventist Hospital.
Dr. Friedman has always been interested in new and advanced therapies for women’s medical care and has been following the movement toward bio-identical hormone therapy and anti-aging medicine for more than ten years. She has received additional training in the complete endocrine evaluation of women and is excited about finally having the outlet to explore traditional and adjunctive treatments for her patients.
